Bruce’s Weight Loss Journey Continues….

October 2023

I must admit when mum served my new food I was like, you must be joking right? That’s not going to fill me up! But guess what? I was pleasantly surprised! I actually did feel full. Mum stopped all my treats and gave me hugs and scratches instead. It felt really good once I got used to my new routine. I almost forgot to tell you that I was able to get my ball and mum rolls it on the ground for me. This weight loss lark is better than I thought!

So, changing my life will be a slow process, my journey started with me weighing 63kg with the aim of reaching 37kg (gulp!)

To begin with I had the indignity of being man handled in and out the back of a truck, and then I was measured around my neck, chest and belly. The girls at the clinic tried bribing me with liver treats which I declined as I’m taking this weight loss program seriously. They may also have been trying to disguise a wormer in there too. I didn’t realise just how big or unfit I’d become. I was puffing & panting just walking into the clinic, I had to lie down to recover!

Well, roll on 4 months later. The nurses bring me into the clinic every 3 weeks for regular weight checks & measurements. I can proudly say I have lost over 10kgs and am starting to enjoy life. I’m now getting a waistline and instead of the girls pulling me into the clinic, I now drag them inside as I can’t wait to see my friends and show off my new bod.

Over the last few months everyone has been very dedicated in keeping me on track. I must say Proplan Obesity has helped me enormously to manage my hunger pains. I don’t need extra treats and now mum has lifted up the cat food I’m no longer tempted to pinch it. Mum has also been encouraging me to play with a ball instead of feeding me. I can’t play for very long as I get tired and my leg aches if I overdo it, but I know I’ll get stronger over time and my leg won’t be as bad with some of the extra weight gone.

Mum has been saying to the girls at Marshall & Pringle that I have found my voice and am becoming very noisy. I have a new friend now who is a chook that lives in our garden. Before my weight loss journey I would watch her from a distance as I didn’t have the strength or energy to interact with her. Now I happily follow her around our garden and am enjoying having more energy and movement. My voice is saying “hey look at me, I live here and I’m happy”.

I’m halfway with my weight loss and each time I go to the clinic I receive complements on my achievements. I love everybody there for their encouragement and support, they’ve become an extended family to me.

Nothing more to report yet my friends, we’re up to date with how I’m going so far. Keep an eye out for more blog updates and me ultimately reaching my goal.

Bye for now!

Bruce
