Our Services
At Marshall and Pringle we provide a range of services to meet all your pet’s health needs, keeping them healthy and happy throughout each stage of their lives. We take them into our clinic and show them the same level of love, care, and concern that they would receive at home or if they were our own pets.
Medicine and Diagnostics
-
We are proud to offer a range of in-house diagnostic tests that give us rapid and accurate results, enabling us to diagnose your pet and implement appropriate care and treatment quickly. Our imaging suite has recently undergone a full upgrade to provide us with an advanced quality of x-ray and ultrasound images. We also have a team of vets with further qualifications in various areas of interest including feline medicine and acupuncture.
Surgery
-
We perform a range of surgeries from routine desexing (castration and spay of dogs, cats, rabbits, and other exotics) to more complex soft tissue surgery and some orthopaedic surgery.
Dentistry
-
We are passionate about great teeth and a healthy smile! Dentistry is a commonly overlooked area of pet health, and maintaining great oral hygiene is essential for a healthy long life.
Acupuncture
-
Acupuncture can be very helpful to manage pain in dogs, cats, and rabbits. Usually this means pain associated with osteoarthritis, spinal disc disease and bony changes in the spine. Other kinds of pain or functional diseases may also respond to treatment.
New Puppy
-
One of the most exciting parts of your pet’s life is the puppy stage. But getting the right breed for your needs and expectations, the right diet, vaccinations, worming and flea treatments, and everything else, can become an overwhelmingly long list! This is where we can help you with the right care and a preventative health plan from day one, giving them the best start in life. Plus, we get to meet all your cute puppies – now who doesn’t want that in their day?

Microchipping
-
Microchipping your dog is a legal requirement but also a very responsible one for both dogs and cats. It is the best chance of being reunited with your fur family should they become lost or stolen.
Senior Pet Care
-
Advances in healthcare and nutrition are allowing our pets to live longer than before. As our pets age it’s common to think that the slowing down is inevitable and unavoidable. Whilst it is common that certain conditions, such as arthritis, are more likely in older age it doesn’t mean there isn’t anything we can do to help them live a comfortable and happy life into their twilight years.

End of life and palliative care
-
We wish that our beloved pets would be with us for our whole lives. When the time comes to say goodbye, we will support you and your pet with our whole hearts and guide you through one of the most difficult decisions you may have to make. We will be there for you and treat you and your pet with the utmost care and respect to enable a dignified and peaceful end to your pet’s life.
Fear free visits
-
Visiting the vets can be stressful for both you and your pet. We endeavour to create a calm and inviting atmosphere, using plenty of treats and peanut butter lick mats for positive reinforcement and distraction. We provide longer consultations to help pets relax and so that you don’t feel rushed. Click this tile to see what other techniques we use, and learn about an international training scheme that we are undertaking to make your visit a more pleasant experience.
Emergencies
-
When your pet becomes seriously sick or unwell or has sustained a serious injury it can be very stressful, especially if it occurs outside of normal opening hours. How do you know if you need urgent or emergency care?
Home Visits
-
We understand that sometimes you would prefer your pet be seen at home, whether due to transport issues, a pet’s distress or for end-of-life care. We will always attend home visits for euthanasia booked in advance. We will accommodate for other home visits during clinic hours where possible, however we have limited portable resources and a sick pet is usually better off coming into the clinic.
If travel anxiety or vet visits cause fear for your pet, please contact us to discuss the use of anti-anxiety medications to make these visits as smooth and calm as possible for them.
Routine Health Care and Nutrition
-
We are passionate about providing your pets with the right support to allow them to live their very best lives. We stock a variety of life stage and prescription diets that we believe will give them optimum nutrition. We understand that just like people every dog is an individual and what may agree with one may not suit another, so we have trained vets and nurses happy to discuss alternative diet options. Nutrition is often an ongoing process; we want to hear how your pet is doing and can discuss dietary adjustments with you when necessary.
We also have a variety of flea and worming preventatives and over the counter supplements for joint, gut and bladder health, and shampoos for sensitive and itchy skin.
Just call in for advice from one of our friendly nurses on reception.

Sustainability
Reducing our impact on the environment is something as a locally owned and independent veterinary hospital we strive for.
We utilise the soft plastic recycling scheme in clinic and are a designated Royal Canin Recycle collection centre for pet food bags. We use compostable dog waste bags. We recently updated our software system to allow us to become paper free by emailing invoices and clinical notes and use recycled paper when needed. We use rechargeable batteries in our scopes and clippers. We proudly support New Zealand and local businesses thus limiting our carbon footprint.
We are a team of likeminded eco-friendly individuals who are always looking for ways to improve veterinary practice sustainability
